Sales Incentive Gifts: Custom-Label Liquor for Sales Teams

By Handled · · 6 min · 21+

Sales teams respond to recognition they can hold. A custom-label bottle with your company's name on it works as a SPIFF prize, a President's Club gift, a quota milestone reward or a thank-you to the channel partners and customers who drive your numbers. This guide covers how to plan liquor as a sales incentive or sales team reward, and the policies to check first. It is general information, not legal, HR or tax advice. 21+ only.

Check the policies first

Every recipient must be 21 or older. Your own company's alcohol and gift policies apply, so confirm with HR or compliance that alcohol is an allowed reward. Gifts to people at other companies, such as channel partners, distributors and customers, may fall under their employer's gift policy, which can cap or forbid what they accept. Ask before you send. Some recipients don't drink, so plan an alternative for anyone who opts out.

Where a bottle fits in a sales incentive program

SPIFFs and short contests

A short sales push needs a prize people want to win. A bottle with the contest name or quarter on the label turns a one-week SPIFF into something reps keep on the shelf.

President's Club and top performers

President's Club winners get the trip, and a custom bottle marked with the year makes a keepsake that outlasts it. See recognition and milestone gifts.

Quota milestones

First deal closed, first quota hit, a record quarter: a matching bottle for each milestone gives the team a shared reward to aim for. For whole-team thanks, see employee appreciation gifts.

Channel partners and distributors

Partners who sell your product carry your brand into their accounts. A co-branded bottle can thank a top partner for a strong year, as long as it fits their gift policy.

Top customers

A thank-you to your best accounts at renewal or year end keeps the relationship warm. See client appreciation gifts.

Regulated industries

If your partners or customers work in regulated fields, their gift rules may be stricter. Our posts on client gifts for financial advisors and client gifts for law firms show how those rules work.

The tax side

Gifts to customers and partners are generally subject to the IRS $25 per-recipient business gift limit, and awards to your own employees can be treated differently. Our guide Are Business Gifts Tax Deductible? The IRS $25 Rule and Liquor covers the basics. Check with your tax advisor.

Why a custom-label bottle works as a sales reward

A custom-label bottle carries your brand and design on the label, and every winner gets the same bottle and presentation. Bourbon and rye programs start at about one barrel, roughly 200 bottles, which can cover a full year of contests, milestones and partner gifts. For other spirits and ready-to-drink formats, program size is confirmed on your quote. Spirits are bottled in 750ml. See private barrel bourbon. For a handful of bottles, an engraved stock bottle may fit better; our engraved vs custom-label guide compares the two.

Our licensed retailer partners ship to most US states; eligibility is confirmed at checkout. An adult 21 or older must sign for each delivery.

How to plan a sales incentive bottle program

  1. Clear it with HR or compliance. Confirm alcohol is an allowed reward and that every recipient is 21+.
  2. Map the year. List contests, milestones, President's Club and partner and customer thank-yous, and count the bottles.
  3. Set a budget by tier. Our guide to how much to spend on client gifts walks through it.
  4. Plan the timing. Lead times are the same as our creator drops, roughly 10 weeks, through label design, federal label approval and bottling. Start well ahead of your kickoff or awards date.
  5. Request a quote. Request a quote with your bottle count, spirit and dates.
