Real Estate Closing Gifts: Custom-Label Liquor Bottles

By Handled · · 6 min · 21+

A closing gift has one job: keep your name in the new owners' home after the keys change hands. A bottle with your name on the label does that better than most gifts, because people keep it on a shelf. This guide covers how real estate agents, brokerages, lenders and title companies use custom-label bottles as closing gifts, what to put on the label, and how to plan a program so a bottle is ready for every closing.

Every bottle here is a 750ml bottle of real spirit, bottled under your label. For adults 21 and over only.

Why a custom bottle works as a closing gift

  • It carries your name. Your name, team or brokerage is on the bottle's real front label, not a sticker.
  • It marks the day. The label can carry a short line such as "Welcome home."
  • It lasts. Many buyers keep the bottle for a first dinner in the new house, or keep it on display.
  • It is the same quality for every client. One label, one spirit, one consistent gift.

For the full occasion, see closing gifts.

Real estate closing gift ideas with a custom bottle

1. The "Welcome home" bottle for buyers

The classic. Your name and a "Welcome home" line on the label, handed over at the closing table or sent after move-in.

2. The seller thank-you

Sellers trusted you with the biggest sale of their lives. The same bottle with a "Thank you" line works for them.

3. The referral thank-you

When a past client sends you someone new, send a bottle. Hold a few bottles back from your program for this.

4. The co-op agent and lender bottle

The agents, lenders and title officers on the other side of the deal notice a bottle with your name on it.

5. The past-client anniversary bottle

A year after closing, a bottle with "One year home" on the label is a reason to get back in touch.

6. The brokerage-wide program

A brokerage can bottle one label for every agent to use, so every closing gift looks the same and carries the brokerage name.

7. The lender or title company closing bottle

Loan officers and title companies close deals too. Your company name on the label works the same way.

Which spirit should you choose?

  • Bourbon or rye. The bottle most closings ask for. See custom whiskey and bourbon.
  • Vodka or gin. A clear spirit for a broad client list.

Not every client drinks. Ask, and keep a non-alcohol option for those who do not.

How many bottles does a closing program need?

Bourbon and rye programs start at about one barrel, roughly 200 bottles. That fits a team or brokerage that closes a steady number of deals and wants bottles on hand for referrals and past clients. For other spirits, program size is confirmed on your quote. Ready-to-drink formats are also available and confirmed on the quote. If one barrel is more than one agent needs, a team or brokerage can share one label.

If you want to buy a full barrel for your company, see private barrel bourbon.

Hand it over, or ship it

You can ship bottles to your office and hand them over at closing, or send each bottle direct to the new address. Bottles are sold and shipped through our licensed retailer partners, and our licensed retailer partners ship to most US states; eligibility is confirmed at checkout. An adult 21 or older must sign for the delivery. See shipping and eligibility.

Plan ahead: lead time

A custom label goes through design, your approval, federal label approval and bottling, so lead times run the same as our creator drops, roughly 10 weeks. We can't promise delivery by any holiday. There is no fixed order-by date. Closings happen all year, so the simplest approach is to bottle once and hold bottles for the closings ahead. See how custom liquor is made.

Check the rules first

Check your brokerage's and lender's policies on client gifts before you plan a program. Gifts to clients are also a business expense question: the IRS caps the deduction for business gifts at $25 per person per year. See are business gifts tax deductible?

Real estate closing gift FAQ

Is liquor a good real estate closing gift?

For clients who drink, a custom-label bottle is a gift they keep and remember. Ask first, and keep a non-alcohol option for clients who do not drink.

Can I put my name or brokerage logo on the bottle?

Yes. Your name, team or brokerage goes on the front label with a short line for the closing. You approve the proof before it is filed for federal label approval.

How many bottles do I have to order?

Bourbon and rye programs are about one barrel, roughly 200 bottles. For other spirits, size is confirmed on the quote. Teams and brokerages can share one label.

Can the bottle be shipped to the new home?

Yes. Our licensed retailer partners ship to most US states; eligibility is confirmed at checkout, and an adult 21 or older must sign for the delivery.

How far ahead should I order?

Lead times run the same as our creator drops, roughly 10 weeks. Many agents bottle once and hold bottles for closings through the year.

Do I approve the label?

Yes. You approve the label proof before it is filed for federal label approval. We can match your brand colors and logo.

Is this better than a stock bottle with an engraved tag?

A custom bottle carries your name on the real front label, so it reads as your gift every time it comes off the shelf. A tag on a stock bottle is easy to remove.

Who checks the recipient's age?

An adult 21 or older must sign for every delivery.
